Success Story — Darius W.

Filming an software application for his community of foodies

Beginning of 2021 we began work with foodie & content creator, Darius Williams, to extend his reach through the origination of his own platform fueled by branded food content. Our team is tasked with developing videography standards, media team deliverables, and post production. We have improved the resolution and aesthetic of the content through on site content creation, research, and equipment additions.

Our team accepted this project at a time when the client refilled some of the positions on set. The project requires at minimum a videographer, food photographer, food stylist, and creative content manager. The project had many opportunities with the quality of video and communicating content standards to the team. It was our goal to empower the new hires & support them with the tools they need to deliver the high quality content the client expects.

We began by observing the new media team to draw conclusions on how we could help them to improve. We took note of the day of content capture and the footage produced. We found that the videographer chosen by the client was in need of standards to follow in order to maintain the video quality long established by the brand. In addition, communication amongst the team had room for improvement for each piece of the team to be most prepared for day of capture. Our team drafted standards to guide the team inspired by the overall vision of the client. Following the research period, we provided the client with equipment solutions that improved camera resolution and restored brand's original footage standards.

With any project we manage, we tackle the client's goals using three guiding principles: Observe, Assess, and Implement.

Observe

In this case, we began by observing the new media team to draw conclusions on how we could help them to improve. At first glance,  it appeared the media team working together to produce quality content for the client's app. We observed the team in need of better communication. We also found each component of the team had "need to knows" in order to make the best decision for expected day-of capture deliverables and required days notice to properly prepare for day-of capture.

The team worked well together overall, but lacked a streamline communication style that would be prep the team for shoots. Talent would prematurely spring on new ideas without providing proper communication of new ideas and new capture and the footage produced.

Assess

We found that the videographer chosen by the client was in need of standards to follow in order to maintain the video quality long established by the brand. In addition, communication amongst the team had room for improvement for each piece of the team to be most prepared for day of capture. For this client, we curated personalized brand guidelines for video, create a Slack workspace to improve communication, and create a Monday profile to use Gantt charts track project deliverables.

Implement

Our team drafted standards to guide the team inspired by the overall vision of the client. Following the research period, we provided the client with equipment solutions that improved camera resolution and restored brand's original footage standards.Today, we are going into the third year of this project. We are so grateful for all the lessons we have learned and how far this project has stretched the possibilities of the business. Currently this project is being managed by a team of four creatives with skills ranging from website design to videography.  The client has expressed interest in commencing a second contract in the coming months. We are actively thrilled to contuse to support the success of this small business, creative team, and future projects.
